Greater
New Hope Baptist Church
2005
22” x 30”
Pen, Ink, Sumi Wash
$1,200
Originally a Synagogue, Baptists purchased the church in 1954. For years
it was the tallest structure in Chinatown, and still holds its own amid
its new multi-story neighbors. Each turret used to be covered with an
onion dome, giving the building an eastern flavor. A ring around the moon
is a portent of snow.
